Why does it need a media drive of any kind? Just make something like an Apple TV box, and have the games downloadable or on SD cards if you really need to put something in a box in a store. Throw in a Netflix and Hulu app or “channel” and you are set. Really the big thing to focus on is the remote and how the user interacts with the content. Another console that you need to put a physical media holder into whether dvd or bluray seems silly at this point. It would be great to have an official ROM player for PC/Macs as well, Mac App store would make sense.
The less hardware you have in the mix, the more profit margin. I’m still looking for a decent way to play old nintendo games on my iPad or smart phone.
