Counterpoint: 8 Things Nintendo Needs To Do With Project Cafe/Wii 2

Yesterday, my fellow GamerLive.TV writer Skyler Bunderson posted an article on what he thinks Nintendo needs to do going into the future. What he came up was the thing that many of us have been hearing for quite some time--Nintendo needs to have better relationships with third party developers. Sure, Nintendo needs to, as does Microsoft and Sony. One reason why the Xbox 360 continues to be so well-liked by developers is the ease of development on the system--something that Sony was under fire for in the earlier stage of PS3 development.
And that's not to say that development on the Wii is hard--it's not, and costs are about a quarter of what it costs to develop titles for the PS3 and 360. What made Wii sales tank is kind of what Skyler was getting at--lack of support from third party devs. From a consumer side--people absolutely loved Wii Sports and Wii Fit--and really did not pay attention to anything but that. Of course a bunch of shovelware came out because of its success--and Nintendo released some great first party titles, but you have to remember that a portion of the demo who enjoyed Wii Sports and Wii Fit, are not going to enjoy playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Super Mario Galaxy. And, those who enjoy playing those memorable first party titles, eventually grew tired of the wagglefest that most Wii games made you play.
