Wii are the champions

ALTON — The city is home to the top Wii bowlers in the state. They’ve got the trophy to prove it.
But instead of a group of teenagers practicing on their parents’ TVs after school, these players come from Glenhaven Gardens, a supportive living facility on the grounds of Alton Memorial Hospital.
The team consisting of such hard rollers as Peggy "Uptown" Brown, Edna "The Enforcer" Mobly, Carol "Shorty" Kuhlman, and Millie "The Hurricane" Pragne took the trophy on Wednesday, April 27, in Springfield.
The tournament began back in February when more than 60 teams representing supportive living facilities all over the state entered. Within two weeks, the Glenhaven Gardeners advanced to No. 1, a position they maintained throughout the tournament.
When they were entered into the Final Four, Laura Robinson, the resident services director at Glenhaven Gardens, and her children decorated a shuttle bus to take the women to Springfield.
"It was like when a baseball team goes to state. We had their names written on the windows, we had the inside decorated. People honked and waved at us all the way from Springfield and back. Everyone wanted to know what we were doing," Robinson said.
