Sri Lanka's computer hardware business to reach high

Sri Lanka’s computer hardware market forecasted an exponential growth in coming years, largely driven by public sector, telecom and financial sector companies, an IT market source said.
During the recent past, the sales of both Personal Computers (PC) and Note Books (Laptop) computers have recorded a tremendous growth due to the government’s effort promoting ICT throughout the country.
Market sources revealed that sales of PC’s in the market have been overtaken by the note book market due to its convenience and portability factor.
From next year onwards IT will be taught from Grade six in every Sri Lankan local school. At present Grade ten students are being though.
Further, the Minister of Higher Education has proposed to provide a laptop/notebook for every single student enters the university education.
This new development will boost the computer hardware market in a big way in coming years.
PC House Plc one of the prominent players in the ICT sector is planning to introduce notebooks for the market. These new notes books will be assembled in their existing assembling plant where they currently assemble personal computers/ PCs’ for the local market, its Chairman S.H.M.Rishan told the Asian Tribune. He said their assembled notebook computers will be available under their famous “Panora” brand, equipped with the latest and up to date functions to compete with other leading brands in the market.
