Q: ok so im planning to get an ipod, some say you have to buy but i don't want to isn't there a website where i could just download ??
A: If you actually want to choose the content and not risk a big fat virus from shareware, you have to buy. If you're too cheap or too broke to buy what you want, don't buy an iPod.
Altec Lansing's family of distinctively wedge-shaped speakers now has a new sibling: Octiv 650 ($XXX, aka MP650) is a bigger model with twin 3" drivers firing from the front, and a 4" down-firing subwoofer on the bottom, providing stronger bass power than before. A newly redesigned rear panel gains component video out capabilities, enabling Octiv 650 to serve as an iPod- and iPhone-docking audio companion to a television set, in addition to its primary role as an Infrared remote controlled standalone speaker system. Shielded for compatibility with every iPhone model -- including the original iPhone -- and capable of working with all iPod classic, nano, and touch generations, plus the fifth-generation iPod, Octiv 650 is available in black plastic with a fabric front grille and a floating, device-agnostic front dock. The remote differs from most in offering dedicated EQ preset buttons, granular bass and treble controls, and menu navigation features in addition to the standard volume, track, and power controls.
This proved the case just the other day. My son sat playing some game on his iPod My wife, passing behind his shoulder, noticed a level of violence she didn’t approve of. She told him that if he was interested in blood he could find a game where he’d perform open heart surgery. And so he did.
I loved video games as a kid. I’d walk a few kilometres to the mall with a pocket full of quarters and spend the afternoon at the arcade, but those games included nothing more complex than Pacman and Donkey Kong. As I joined my son at his surgery game, however, I grew not only impressed with the details, but I began to recall past patients. My son began performing brain surgery on a patient with Parkinson’s disease. I watched his detail mapping of the brain for the video game procedure where he’d guide electric probe stimulation to specific parts of the brain to ease the tremours of the patient, and I recalled old Max.
Max was a six-year-old Boxer who had developed changes in his behaviour and seizures over the previous few months, and they were growing more severe. I met him 18 years ago during my three-week stay in New York City as part of an externship for my final year of vet school. I went to New York to study dermatology at the Animal Medical Center, but while there I tried to keep abreast of all the interesting cases that were admitted. Max’s case certainly qualified.
