Oz-standing fantasy
20.05.12
In Out Of Oz , the fourth and final book of his series (with previous volumes comprising Wicked , Son Of A Witch and A Lion Among Men ), Maguire comes full circle with the characters that brought him fame, concluding their adventures in a fantastical, gripping tale of political intrigue and generational struggles. A warning, however: the world of the Wicked Years book series is absolutely nothing like Wicked, the musical. Yes, the characters are the same, but gone are the catchy tunes and cheery atmosphere, and in their place are darkness and copious amounts of sex and violence.
In short, this book is certainly not for little Munchkins.
In Out Of Oz , Oz finds itself in a civil war as Munchkinland and the Emerald City prepare drastic measures in their clash against each other. Former Throne Minister Glinda falls from grace and is placed under house arrest. Rain, granddaughter of Elphaba, the late Wicked Witch of the West, finds herself on the run with a group of unlikely companions, all under the guiding visions of the mysterious Clock of the Time Dragon.
