Hennessey Squeezes 800 HP From McLaren MP4-12C

SEALY, Texas — John Hennessey's new HPE800 Twin Turbo kit manages to wring an additional 200-plus ponies from the formidable McLaren MP4-12C — a remarkable feat considering the factory job already produces 592 horsepower from its blown 3.8-liter V8.
Hennessey Performance Engineering extracts more than 800 hp from the same engine, after upgrading the turbos, intercooler, intake and ECU, then fitting a titanium exhaust system.
Also bundled with the HPE800 Twin Turbo package is a carbon-fiber aero kit, including a new front air inlet and hood extractor to increase cooling.
Hennessey fits its own Monoblock wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, but hasn't touched the suspension or brakes on the McLaren because "the factory systems will be difficult to improve upon."
Says the founder: "I spent a lot of time around the new 12C at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was very impressed. We're excited to have the opportunity to take a great car and give it our own special performance touch while giving 12C owners a uniquely aggressive appearance."
