Q: Is wifi free without smartphone connect? Basically does it work like a laptop? I don't need the connect plan if i can just connect to my wifi for free
A: wifi is a phone feature, it should work without any data plan. Data plans are more for email, web surfing etc. Use a wifi hotspot or unsecure network and surf away.
